Thank you Winnipeg Kinsmen Club!

The South Winnipeg Community Centre would like to thank the  Winnipeg Kinsmen Club for it’s donation of $5000.00. The donation will support the cost of upgrading the arena lighting at the SWCC Richmond Site. The arena lighting upgrade is long overdue and without the assistance of the Winnipeg Kinsmen Club, this upgrade may not have taken place. The SWCC Richmond Arena is presently the home base for not only the SWHA but for three local high school teams – Vincent Massey Boys & FRC Boys and Girls – the SWRA Wild and numerous adult hockey and Ringette teams.

Volunteer Appreciation Awards

Update: Due to the current situation, SWCC is postponing the Volunteer Appreciation awards. Any nominations that were made will be held and considered for next year.

It’s that time of year again where look to recognize our outstanding SWCC volunteers.  2020 has proven to have many challenges, and although we will not be able to gather for our traditional dinner and awards, we still want to show our appreciation.

We are looking for nominations for two awards:

The Lida Rodrigues Community Contribution Award should go to someone who:

Has shown ongoing selfless dedication through their commitment to devoting their time and effort to volunteer services within their community. This person has touched the lives of others with their kindness and generous spirit, and exemplifies the virtue of good citizenship. This individual has earned the respect of their peers, and has become a leader in their efforts. This person’s work has imposed positive change, and benefited many others within the SWCC community.

The Long Term Service Award should go to someone who:

Has tirelessly shown continued dedication, ongoing initiative and leadership skills volunteering within the community for multiple years. This person has spent many years providing mentorship to others, and is a true leader in their sport. This person has devoted themselves to sustained and selfless volunteer service within the SWCC community.

Outdoor Ice

Further update on outdoor ice. Today goal nets have been positioned on the Richmond rink and on one of the Waverley rinks. Ryerson will remain a strictly pleasure rink.
Although nets are in position, shinny games would be a violation of the Provincial guidelines. Please follow the group limits and maintain safe distancing.

Waverley Site –  Lights on from 4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
Richmond Site – Lights on from 4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Ryerson Site – Officially opened Tuesday, December 29! Lights on from 4:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.
