Coaches and volunteers are needed for all teams.
Most teams will require a manager, first aid person (safety), equipment manager, someone to install bases before each game, coach and, from the 9U (Mosquito) level on up teams also require a scorekeeper, pitch counter and if possible (though rarely), someone who can umpire if the scheduled umpire cannot make it. All of these positions are made up from volunteer parents.
Please keep in mind that we need volunteers when you register your children. If we do not have volunteers to help out the kids don’t play.
Knowledge of baseball is not a pre-requisite to volunteering.
Respect in Sport
All volunteers regardless of sport are required to complete the Respect in Sport training from Sport Manitoba. The course is free, on-line and you work at your own pace (https://sportmanitoba.respectgroupinc.com/secure/)
Anyone who was certified for RIS more than 5 years ago needs to re-certify, beginning April 2017
For those brave and dedicated souls who are interested in obtaining their coach certification the club will help gain the required credentials. Baseball Manitoba is requesting ALL coaches be certified by taking the Initiation Coach course.
The cost for certification for SWCC coaches is covered by the club.
